This kitchen was designed without wall units to rediscover the elegant Georgian stucco proportions, undermined by shoddy developers in the 90s. A large free-standing larder - to house absolutely everything - was built on-site using antique French doors (reclaimed from another project) leaving the rest of the room to stand bare and simple; underheated limestone floors were laid; all appliances were discreetly integrated; a bespoke Italian marble worktop was cut locally; plywood doors were lacquered to a yacht-finish; a new solid oak sash window was custom made to replace the damp plastic one that had no soundproofing from the train track nearby; and an antique table and gorgeous 1960's chairs were sourced to complete the refresh. The client specified nothing except “pink walls, large cooker and farmhouse table”. Music to my ears
