The brief was to gently refresh this gorgeous little 18th century cottage, prioritising quality of finish on a few key features initially with a 'drip-feed' plan to follow for the owner to proceed with themselves. So a long-term builders schedule was drawn up, and the existing kitchen was immediately modified by removing the outdated detailing but maintaining the carcass, fitting a reclaimed Iroko worktop, bespoke Yew shelving and Oak kick-boards. Throughout the rest of the house original Oak beams, skirting and parquet floors were all stripped and oiled, a new paint and lighting scheme were applied and a few key pieces of antique furniture were sourced. The original log fire was uncovered and re-instated and the entrance hall was re-configured to incorporate an elegant cloak room. A real joy of a project to help get off the ground
