The house was taken back to a Victorian shell, the features were restored, a new loft conversion was added and a kitchen extension was built. The brief specified all original wood in the house to be stripped bare and waxed - a 10-week project alone. All fixtures and fittings in the house were sourced individually or bespoke-made. Many of the walls were left bare plaster, finished with beeswax; the Teak wood floor to the loft was reclaimed from Horse Guards Parade in Hyde Park - complete with vintage hoof prints! The downstairs loo was given a floor of copper pennies set in epoxy; a battered old French copper bath was carefully reshaped and refinished; a saloon-style kitchen floor was created from old parquet boards and a custom gold colourway of my Ostrich wallpaper was commissioned throughout the hallways. There is not space here to outline the extent of attention to detail on this project - every light, handle, floor, wall, window, tap, switch, cornice, fireplace and radiator was painstakingly sourced and restored, taking over a year to complete.
